What is excess layer insurance?

Excess layer insurance is an add-on policy that increases your existing cover limit. It applies once your main policy has paid out in full.

For example:

Your public liability cover is £5 million
Your client requires £10 million
An excess layer policy gives you the additional £5 million

This extra cover is especially useful for large projects, contract work or sites with higher liability exposure.
